Overview of the Sanford Galleon Venue
The Sanford Galleon is a 4,000 square foot event venue located at the Lake Monroe marina that is affiliated with St Johns Rivership Company. Located across the parking lot from where the Barbara-Lee Sternwheeler is docked, the event venue is envisioned to offer guests a land option that can be paired with a rivership excursion. “Being able to offer our guests both a land and river-based option to celebrate their events is a game-changer for us”, states Michelle Wyatt, Owner of St Johns Rivership and the Sanford Galleon. “We are hoping the combination of the two venues allows options to fit different needs that were not previously met onboard a ship and offers a uniqueness not found in a traditional event center.”

Learn More About the Sanford Galleon
The Sanford Galleon was designed with versatility in mind. Previously, it was home to a local church. Its layout can accommodate a wide range of events, including a corporate conference, wedding reception, anniversary and birthday parties or charity gala, the Sanford Galleon is equipped to host it all. Space rentals include banquet tables, table rounds and Gasser chairs.
The space was completely remodeled in 2024 and provides a nautical themed venue decorated in shades of blue and brown. The venue’s design is a nod to the city’s nautical past, with architectural elements inspired by the ships and boats that once sailed the St. Johns River. The Galleon’s name itself reflects this maritime theme, evoking images of grand sailing vessels from the past.
The venue’s location is also key to its success. Situated just a short distance from downtown Sanford, visitors can easily explore the area’s shops, restaurants, and historic landmarks. Sanford’s revitalized Riverwalk area, combined with the allure of the Galleon, is expected to attract both residents and tourists alike looking to host events on the river.
